This was my first attempt at a crochet summer hat for my niece. I loved how easy it was to make and the flower was really cute and set the hat off lovely. Unfortunately it was too small for her when I finished which led me on to look for average hat / head sizes on the interweb. I have learnt from my mistakes and now have started to make some winter hats that actually fit the people that they have been made for!
I have been busy this week with hat making maybe because the weather is getting colder.
I have made this cute owl hat for my sister, and have made one each for my children, my daughters is pink and purple sparkles whilst my son's is blue and brown! Even though he insists that he likes girl colours! The hat did not take too long to make and I used a pattern that I found on Ravelry by Sarah Zimmerman as a basic guide to follow. I found that the sizes on the pattern came out a bit small so added a few rows extra to make the hats wider and longer.I have since been asked to make a bunny hat for a friends 4 month old daughter. She wanted the same basic design as the owl hat but in sparkly white and baby pink. It had to have ears and a face. I practised all weekend making different shape and sizes until I got a basic ear shape.
And here it is.
I had a request to make a tiny owl hat for a 3 week old baby, it took an hour to make as its so small. Mum only wanted one colour for baby Bailey which was a bit easier as no colour changes :)
Here is the finished item, which I will get to deliver to her later.
